Jones Vacation at St Augustine Part Two: First Night out with NO rain!

We had noticed a let up in the rain. And we all loaded up and headed in to the downtown historic area of St Augustine. It was the first 3 hour stent of NO rain in days. And we were all so happy!! We got there too late to tour the fort (closes at 5! seriously?? C'mon!) but we walked around it. It was so nice to be outside. We walked around the streets and the shops there. We at dinner at a little restaurant there. We had such a nice evening.

This was our family photo...taken by timer with the camera on a tree. :) We've laughed about this pic. One...that Sarah and Chris should be so proud of their daughter Jasmine, I mean Daisy. :) Two...that the Jones family met this neat couple, Dave and Eryn, on the trip and had a pic with them (they are so far away)...well that or I had B.O. and didn't know it. :) Three...that Dave and Eryn left me ALOT of room to run and pose in once I pressed the button...sheesh, how big do you think I am? :) And's the Maurine Show! We just all forgot to do our jazz hands. :) How can you know these things when the timer is taking the pic? :) But in all seriousness, I love this pic! :)

Of the 4 women in the above pic...which is most likely to get skin cancer? That would be me.

Isn't this a super cute pic of Dave and Eryn??
Notice above...Daisy...their biggest fan at the concert!

We ended it with a fun stop at this large wooden playground. The family all wound up gathered around the pipe/xylophone intstrument things. Daisy would dance while several Jones family members would step the plate and figure out some tune and play a song. I was not surprised at this skill they all have (including Eryn) but still amazed. I mean David and Eryn busted out "Under the Sea" I think! :) Daisy was giving orders for who would dance, sing, and so on. Once she gave us all roles....we were fulling participating in her demands...only to realise she had moved on to some other part of the playground and we were all still going strong!

Jones Vacation at St Augustine Part One: Rainy days

Let me start the telling of our fun adventures on the Jones Family Vakay with the fact that the first few days that were RAINY. Not just a shower here and there. But POURING, CATS AND DOGS, FLOODING STREETS RAIN. Guess what St. Augustine does not have? INDOOR ANYTHING. We googled and called and NOTHING. I mean not even a fast food play place. indoors! We were inside the house with my two crazies and sweet puppy Emory and all the adults....OH and I forgot to mention....the Dish/TV/Cable was out. AWESOME. (It was out half of our trip and one day the repair guy spent an entire day at the house in and out setting it up again. Maurine even made the man a sandwich! and Buddy made him some coffee!) So we played, ate hung out, took laps around the porch, played with Emory, had a tea party, got dressed and checked the clock...8:23 am. Great. Now what?

One day Daniel and I loaded up the kids to scout out St Augustine from the car in the rain. We also went to the beach IN THE RAIN determined to play. It was so windy and cold --and Isaac's lips were blue--so we had to cut the trip off and go home. :( Desperate I tell ya! I have to say that had this been an adult trip (sans kids) we would have gone to the movies, gone shopping, and maybe other enjoyable no kid activities. But alas, we do have them. So we hunkered down and survived the storm. Honestly with Grandparents and Aunts and Uncles helps tremendously.

One of the rainy days we had a girls shopping day. It was so fun at the outlets. We ate lunch and enjoyed trying on LOTS of clothes and shoes. I think we all bought at least one pair of shoes! :) BIG thanks to the boys for keeping the kids!

(below the boys headed to the beach with the kids while we shopped!)
Each night we all took turns cooking. We were assigned a night to prepare the dinner. It was great! Then no one was burdened with all the food/cooking and everyone prepared one FAB dinner. We ate very well! For lunches we would eat sandwiches or leftovers...every man for himself. It worked out very well.

There came a point in the rainy days that I knew things were getting bad. See pics below....

One night we all got around our lap top to watch something. HILARIOUS. Thankfully David had ESPN 360 and we all got to watch basketball playoffs with feed thru to the TV. I wasn't even that into them...but it was something to do! :) We also watched Ellen's stand up DVD...HILARIOUS.
Above is Aunt Eryn...eating breakfast with her purse! This is called being ready at all times for the sun to shine so she can hit the door!!! HA...we laughed at this. She was really trying to remind herself to get something from her purse...but this happened while were were noticing the pics I had to snap this shot too. :)

And then when I saw Mimimo reading the kids the phone book...I knew we had made it to a new level of boredom and exhausted ALL options. But it showed Mimimo's level of resourcefulness! I mean you know those people that "can sing the phone book"? Maurine can do that too...but also READ the phone book! I mean I gotta say, the kids were with her for quite some time. The details of Dan's Fan City (every city has one) and Cristie's Fencing were keeping their attention! THANK YOU MEEMS! (new shorter version of her name)

As I looked thru my pics I saw like 9 of these pics. :) Sarah and Emory napped together alot. :)

Above is the entire family humoring Daisy with a fun song of YMCA on my iPod. She had them dancing all thru her party CD that she loves. It was funny.

So the rain softened and we decided to brave the beach. We got there and it was so windy and then started pouring. One group went back. Daisy, Me, Sarah, Emory and Chris stayed a little longer hoping it would stop. NO SUCH LUCK. :(

Sarah, Isaac, David and Eryn.

When we returned...we were BEYOND drenched!

Stay tuned for Part 2 of Jones Family Vacation: Sunshine. :)

what else do you do on rainy vacation?

Post on your blog, of course! :)

Well, we went to Daisy's end of the year program. Each class just sang one song. Her class chose "A tooty-tah." It was pretty funny. They were the first class to go. Then we had about 45 more mins of controlling the Tornado (Isaac) in a pew. NOT going to happen. I wanted to leave too but was too embarrassed to walk down there to get her. A friend of mine who was there said "Why do you care? You may not even be here next year!" And I thought she made a great point. And so we went for it. :) So we jetted early...Dan made the walk of shame down to get her from sitting with her class in the front.

This pic below is a glimpse in to the maddness of parenthood: parent vs. parent. Do you see the shot I got of Daisy? I mean it was every mom for herself to get a good pic of her kid. Score? Me..Zero...other parents...One.

She did such a good job. She she looked like such a big girl up there. My little Daisy!

I had her parent/teacher conference earlier that day. Mrs. Rachdan said great things about Daisy. I was SO proud of her.

may update with pics

And the love for the lawn mower continues....(don't's not running.)Isaac loves this little stroller (Daisy has $7 I ever spent!) and has decided he wants to ride it in. He looks HILARIOUS in it.
Daisy pushes him around in it. Watching the wheels bend when they turn is too funny.
Below is my Orlando MOPS group that meets on the second Wednesday of the month. It was our last meeting. :( I will miss these moms!

So there are times when I can't pick up Isaac. So he has decided that Daisy will do! He goes to her and lifts up his hands. And sweet girl...she gives it her best shot. It cracks me up when he lifts his legs up (5 inches off the ground!) for her to hold him! HA!

Above is the "ha!...I got my way Mama!" look...

This is a weekly (sometimes more often) occurrence at our house...singing and dancing in the kitchen. I have my iPod dock in there and we rock out. It's so fun. For both of us I promise. Daisy loves to say, "Mama, may I be excused from the table to dance to this song?" :)

Ok...and finally...the stingray injury Part Deux. HA. So Thursday it started swelling and itching like CRAZY. Not really painful anymore...just itching!!! And it feels full like a balloon. And I am stepping on it. Here is it today. I went to the Dr...I am on antibiotics. Hopefully that will help.

(Prepare yourself! You know I am no stranger to putting terrible pics of me on my blog....this is no exception...they are ugly feet...but hey I will do almost anything to get sympathy for my wounds...even via the wide world web. :))

(this one above looks alien...but its a great angle on how big the side swelled!)

And now I am off to watch the 24 season finale!! WOO HOO!
