Colbie at 13 months

OH the mama guilt of recording every sneeze of Daisy and hardly being able to get to Colbie's info updated every quarter! :)  She will get her alone time when the other 2 are gone and in college I guess. :)

I had jotted down some things I wanted to remember about Colbie at 13 months.

1.  Taking 5-10 steps but walking still isn't for her.
2.  She loves to play "where's colbie?"  She covers her eyes with her little fists and then peeks out over them.  She doesn't do the usual throw them back in surprise...nope, just a peek for us to say, "THERE SHE IS!"
3.  She loves (still) to do "Yaaaaaaay!" and clap her hands.  If she does anything...she looks at you and claps for herself like, "I am so great! YAY!"  :)
4.  We started swim lessons at the Y.  Safe Start with Ms Erica.  She is fussing a good amt but seems to be getting it.  I am glad we can do this this year!
5.  Not a super napper right now.  Trying to go to one nap.  If she takes a long morning one, the afternoon one is rough.  Maybe it's time to go to just one.
6.  We have a yellow foamy golf ball in our house.  One day Colbie crawled over to me with a mouth full...and I said, "spit it out..." and out came this yellow golf ball!  AHHHH.  Hilarious.
7.  She is an independent little girl!  I don't worry about her being "mistreated" at our house.  When Isaac messes with her (as brothers tend to do) then she looks at him with a furrowed brow and screams at him like, "STOP!"  It's pretty funny.  My go to line after that scenario is, "Isaac, I don't think she likes it when you do that."
8.  Daisy is still such a great help (most of the time).  She loves to help us with playing with Colbs and distracting her.  I think she has the Jones kid-loving gene.
9.  We have had quite a time with ear infections with Jeaner since christmas.  :(  She has had 4.  I think we are headed to tubes.  We have also had a few times where we give her nebs for her lungs being so junky.  Hope we are not headed to asthma too.
10.  We like to call her "critter" cause her hair reminds us of the Little Critter books.  (You know the ones called like: I Can Do it Myself, or Just Me and My Dad, Mercer Mayer.)
(this pic was at 14 mos...but you get the idea)
We love this Colbie Jeaner!
As a totally random aside...Daisy occasionally will call me "Mother of Abraham."  WHAT!?  I will say, "Do you want yogurt for your snack?"  ........"Yes, Mother of Abraham."  HA

Daisy's Field Trip

Daisy's class went on field trip to Homosassa Springs.  It's a nice state park with animals to see and boats to ride...lots to learn.  :)  But before I tell you of the days adventures, let me tell you this...

When I dreamed of being a mama to small children I actually dreamed of going on field trips with them.  Ok, not like real dreams but it was part of the fun I was looking forward to.  My parents were always involved and I really loved it.  I wanted to be the same way.  Anywho...this year Daisy had a field trip AND the first Sock Hop while Daniel and I were outta town in November (we are NEVER OUTTA TOWN...SHEESH!).  So I missed them. :(  I hated to miss.  So when a note came home about this field trip coming up I emailed the teacher.  I told her I was really interested in going.  She said she would give me a heads up when she was sending home the permission slips.  She mentioned this was a popular field trip.  "Ok. weird.  What is Homosassa Springs anyway?..." I thought. the day arrives.  I am in carline, Daisy is brought to the car, Ms Crosby says, "Ok, check your folder! (wink!)"  So I do.  I decide to pull over in he parking lot, park, fill it out, and go in and hand in the slip, pay and just get it over with.  I spend a few mins filling out the form, leave the 3 Yahoos in the car and quickly walk in.  When I get in there, minutes after my hands had grasped the form...I AM THE 4TH PARENT TO HAND IN MY FORM.  What!?  INSANE.  Thankfully 8 were allowed to go.  But sometimes the competition is just too much...FOR KINDERGARTEN.

But on with the day...

So we all boarded a bus FULL of excitement for our day.  It was a chilly 50 something morning but it said the high was 80 (should have checked when...3 pm...oops on Daisy wearing shorts!).  We took about a one hour bus ride to the state park.  We got to watch Charlotte's Web on the way (charter bus, oh OH!...bathroom on board...oh NO!  You can imagine the drama around those with our little Kindergartners...and yes, a little girl got stuck in there and had to be coached on unlocking her sweet-little-hysterical-self outta there...).  Any who...maybe you can see by the pic below (particularly Daisy's face) that Daisy is realizing this day will not go as she thought.  Couple things:

1.  It was not going to be a day of just me and Dais.  :(  I was in charge of 2 other gals. One of which was a little crazy.  Can you tell which one? :)

We saw lots of cool native Floridian animals...and was unaware of the Hippos abundant presence in our state. :)

2.  "All we did was ride forever on the bus, look at animals and be hungry," said Daisy.  And yes, that was true.  :)  At school the Kindergarten eats lunch at 10:30.  Crazy.  But on this trip they ate at 12.  They were all begging for food all morning!  I also had to explain to Daisy that sometimes the fun of a field trip was just being outta school and with your friends.  Sometimes the event was fun and interesting but sometimes you just need to enjoy the break from regular school work.  :)

The kids could write notes to "Lu" the Hippo...this was Daisy's (above).
I have to say that I enjoyed the trip!  It was fun to be able to focus on Daisy and be with her.  I got to spend most of the day with my friend Kristie and her group.  The weather was beautiful.  And besides getting a little bus sick on the way there and on the way was a great day!!

more march randoms...

At the end of March, sweet Bean started her Safe Start swim lessons. at the Y.  She is doing really well.  We have been deterred/delayed by several ear infections (not related...but nevertheless ANNOYING.).  Erica is her instructor and she is great!  She has cried through most all of her lessons.  It was sad to watch at first.  When she sees her instuctor she starts crying.  Erica said she is used to it!  :(  I would talk to sweet Colbie and try to cheer for her from the side.  One time she heard me and in the water, on her back, only her face out of the water and crying...she brought her little hands together and started clapping for herself (she used to do it when we'd say, "yaaaaay jeaner!").  Sweet little Bean!  Now she is a great floater and they are working on her finding the surface when/if she falls in different ways (backwards, flips in, falls out of a float, etc).

Caulleys visit!

We were so excited to have the Caulley's at our house for part of their Spring Break.  Admittedly, I did a horrible job taking pics for some reason.  I know Anna got some good ones.  I may just have to steal her entire post when she blogs. :)  But here is what I got.  With 6 kids in the house, it's hard to "do" very much.  Daniel was working some and Daisy was in school.  But it was so great to just hang out, let the cousins play and enjoy their company.  We also enjoyed some nice grown-up conversations after they all were in bed. :)

Don grilled up some steak for us!  YUM.

We had a little birthday for Luke since he was turning 6 in the next few days! :)
Caleb was LUVIN' him some cupcake...and icing. :)

 (Isaac's holding a caterpillar...hard to see that...)

So a friend told me about this site called  I only got to play on it for about 10 mins and look at these cool pics!  Check it out for yourself!

Crazy Cagles

When the Cagles get together we have fun.  There is always a lot of silliness and laughing (maybe that's just me at Scott...hmmm).  Here are a few shots of proof.  Thanks again Scottie for sharing your time and home with us!!

Dad is smiling for the camera while keeping something from Daisy. :)
 Kristy has some guns, y'all.
 Sweet Uncle Scott.
E Money (aka Snot face) and Julie

Ok, you wanna meet silliness personified?  It's my sister.  (Even Daisy told her "You are way more fun than my mom."  Awesome.)  All I want is a cute pic of me and my little sister....but nooooOOOoooo....
"Stop it!" I demand (cause I am the oldest and therefore the BOSS!).  Just be normal.
She doesn't listen.  Never has really....
FINALLY.  And thanks to our photographer (GAH! 6 year old!) it's off center. :)

And just a quick note:
I don't know if I am the only person who does this...but I like to try and find my name whenever there are personalized items in a store.  I mean I just like seeing my name in print on anything (key chain, pen, airbrush T, mug, license place the size for a Barbie car, whathaveyou...).  So I see these mug at a Stone Mtn gift shop and start my hunt.  I would give my success in finding "Melanie" on such items generally about 40 %.  Some companies think I have a common name...most others have met MILLIONS of "Melinda's"...but not Melanie's.  (I am not bitter...anymore. :))  So after NOT finding my whole name, I at least saw this...

"Mel"...there are so many more "Mel's" in the world than Melanie's, wouldn't you agree? (I hope you are catching all this sarcasm.)
 But Candy made the cut....
Even Leticia lucked out.  But not Melanie.

But I found one.  I almost bought it for Him and took it to church to put in the offering plate. :)
